Combat-Ready Quality

This is perhaps the most specific quality we have here at Collide. Having both participated as combatants in the Metrocon Anime Human Chess Match, and Fire-Preformers; we have learned the importance of making sturdy, flexible, and sometimes very specifically constructed costumes. There are many cases where we had to change design aspects of a costume because they weren’t safe, didn’t offer enough protection during a fight, or might catch fire. We would love to offer our services to anyone who is either participating in a fight/fire-show or just wants to be able to horse-around in costume.
Examples of what can be made in this bracket are:
Final Fantasy Characters
Link- Legend of Zelda Games
Street Fighter Characters
Any character for a fighting game

There are several types of combat-ready costumes. There are those that need to be stiff and protective (armor), those that require extremely close fit and flexibility (hand to hand/gymnastics), and some that simply need to be made out of specific materials (fire-spinning). Each has its own strengths and draw-backs, but they all end up at around the same level skill required to make them. There are some costumes that are outside of our ability to make combat-ready. We do not, as of now, have the ability to make chain-mail or metal armor. We also cannot, at this point, do much work with latex. This will hopefully change over time, but we will not claim any abilities we do not actually have.
While it is sometimes difficult to retain perfect character integrity, we have been able to keep our characters (mostly) intact. If your character uses a sword or other bladed weapon, we suggest one of two options for Combat-ready. One is a con-safe boffer-style weapon that is foam-covered and even when swung, does not hurt on impact. The second option is only plausible for stage-combat shows. It requires us putting you in-touch with one of several black-smith’s websites where you may order either pre-made or custom (both real) weapons like swords and daggers. Custom blades are very expensive and require special care, and would not be allowed in the average Con. Please be sure to check the weapon’s policy for every Convention you go to. Most likely the more prudent choice would be the foam-padded replica sword. They will be available in styles to match your character.
